Leeds United continued their strong, unbeaten start to the 2026/2027 Premier League season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at Elland Road. The Whites showcased their attacking intent early when a powerful Dominic Calvert-Lewin header was brilliantly saved by Bart Verbruggen. However, Ao Tanaka was sharpest to the rebound, squaring the ball perfectly for Jayden Bogle to smash home from close range and break the deadlock.

Leeds held onto their hard-earned lead for the majority of the match. Their resistance was finally broken in the 71st minute when Maxim De Cuyper delivered a dangerous corner from the right wing. Brighton’s rising star defender Luka Vuskovic rose highest to head in from close range, with Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford unable to claw it away amidst heavy contact in the six-yard box.

The hosts were nearly condemned to their first defeat of the campaign late in the game. Following a right-sided cross, a loose touch from Nico Elvedi saw the ball drop perfectly for Pascal Groß, but the veteran midfielder couldn’t keep his effort down, blazing it over the bar. Up the other end, Leeds pushed for a dramatic winner as Felix Nmecha came agonizingly close, firing a low driving shot just wide of the right post.

While the unbeaten run remains intact, Daniel Farke’s men must become far more clinical in front of goal. Leeds have managed just three goals in their opening three Premier League games despite registering more than 10 shots on target, highlighting a clear need to turn territorial dominance into goals.

Up next, Leeds United switch their focus to cup action as they host Chelsea on September 9th in a highly anticipated Carabao Cup clash. Following that, they return to top-flight action on September 14th with a challenging away trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United.
