Leeds United have handed 17-year-old defender Louie Philpott his first professional contract, with the young left-back signing a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until June 2028.Â
Philpott has progressed through Leedsâ academy and recently established himself around Scott Gardnerâs Under-21s setup after making his breakthrough at youth level.
The teenager was part of the Leeds Under-21 squad during the 2025/26 campaign and made four Premier League 2 appearances, scoring once. His goal came in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in April, when he produced an impressive finish from a narrow angle to give Leeds hope of a comeback.
Philpott has also featured regularly across Leedsâ youth sides, continuing his development at Thorp Arch. He was named among the clubâs 2025 academy scholars and has since taken another step forward by making his first-team contract breakthrough.
The left-back has already been involved with the Under-21s this season, starting in their Premier League Cup fixture against Charlton Athletic earlier in September.
His new contract represents another important stage in his development as Leeds continue to invest in players coming through their academy.
Philpott will now look to build on his progress with the Under-21s and continue pushing towards senior football as he begins his first professional contract with the club.
Speaking after signing the deal, Philpott described it as the first step in his professional career, with the young defender now aiming to continue developing and work towards making his mark at Leeds.
